A large BLACK CHAOSPHERE altar tablet, as a focus for sorcerous workings and meditation.

Design inspired by Nicholas Hall's notorious classic 'Chaos & Sorcery' (1992). This version is larger than my standard Chaosphere and carved in solid, ebonised walnut. It's 30cm across and 2cm thick. It's ebonised using a three step process for a really deep black and then waxed twice for a rich sheen. The black finish lends itself to the potential for also using this Chaosphere as a scrying device.

"Once a set of divinatory tools has been obtained or made, the sorcerer can begin to construct other tools. The choice depends upon individual preference, however a simple but multi-purpose tool is the chaosphere. The chaosphere as previously described is an eight-rayed star, usually drawn in two dimensions as a circle with eight arrows bursting forth, and is one of the most ancient magickal symbols....If possible, the material chosen should be natural, not synthetic, as a natural substance already contains a certain amount of chaos energy. The chaosphere can be used as a spirit trap, amulet or fetish, or as a gateway into the astral...The size of the chaosphere depends upon personal choice although an eight inch diameter chaosphere enables it to be used as a focal point for visualisation... large enough to be used as a solid base on which powders and herbal mixtures can be prepared for a variety of sorcery workings" (Hall, 1992, pg 11).

The catalogue pieces are individually made-to-order. Completion time is estimated at 3-4 weeks. I'll send a few work-in-progress photos as the carving nears complete and once the work is finished and I'm completely happy with the piece, I'll contact you again to arrange delivery.
