THE AUM LOTUS - carved altar piece for Tantric or Buddhist altar. Carved in solid, ebonised black walnut.

A variation on the Black Lotus carving which was originally designed and commissioned for a Tantric practitioner as a central piece upon a working altar and a focus for daily sādhanā. The carved lotus has a central circle within which the Sanskrit "AUM" (the sacred universal sound / essence) is carved. The base of the carving is carved with "Praise to the Jewel in the Lotus" - Om Mani Padme Hum in Sanskrit, the compassion mantra. The original was meant as an altar piece but this version could also be hung above an altar or in a temple space. 

I've decided to make this piece more widely available to practitioners who may find it useful in their practice and on their altars. It can use used as a central working area for a tantric altar, for placing offerings, amulets, for pujas within Hindu tantric practice, as a centre-piece for a Shiva Lingam and for many other uses within meditation and ritual.

It's a really tactile size -- 26cm wide (10 1/4 inches) from tip to tip, and 2cm (4/5 inch) thick. The walnut is finely finished and ebonised jet-black. It's then waxed and polished. If you would like a larger version, just drop me a message!
